The text of the article succinctly and discusses the evolution and development of pragmatic competence within English language teaching, emphasizing its relationship with mother tongue learning and English as a second or foreign language (ESL/EFL) pragmatics. The article details how to integrate pragmatic learning into these contexts. An analysis of various models of communicative competencies is also carried out, which determine both successes and problems in developing, understanding, and implementing pragmatic competencies in ESL and EFL.
