The article analyzes empirical data on the characteristics of the manifestation of orientation towards professional activity in the system of personal needs. The direction of a person is understood as a network of stable motives that guide a person’s activity and are relatively independent of the current situation. It should be noted that a person’s orientation is always socially determined and formed during the educational process. Orientation is a system of relationships that has become a property of the individual and manifests itself in such forms as attraction, desire, aspiration, interest, inclination, ideal, worldview, and beliefs. In addition, the motives of activity form the basis of all forms of personal orientation.
