This article analyzes the structure and content of the forensic examination report, as well as issues of its assessment from the point of view of scientific validity and compliance with the procedural rules established for the examination. There is a lack of a clear and unified methodology for assessing expert opinions. All components of a forensic expert's report (introduction, research and conclusion) are examined in detail in the context of current legislation. Based on an analysis of the theoretical views of a number of criminologists, the need to take into account the procedural requirements for drawing up an expert opinion and the importance of its evaluation as a source of evidentiary information is emphasized. The features of evaluating an expert opinion are highlighted, with an emphasis on aspects that are important for the investigator and the court when checking the content of the expert opinion. It is emphasized that the legally established structure of the expert opinion facilitates the systematic analysis and evaluation of its various parts. Recommendations are offered for conducting expert research and monitoring the presentation of results.
