This article examines the didactic foundations for developing thinking and analytical reasoning among undergraduate History students through systematic work with historical sources. Historical knowing is interpreted not as the memorization of facts but as an epistemic practice involving provenance, authorial position, context of production, reliability, and comparison with other evidence. Theoretical-comparative analysis, source criticism, hermeneutic interpretation, content analysis, and didactic modelling are used to substantiate a sequence of identification, contextualization, corroboration, evidence-based argumentation, and reflection. The study defines principles for selecting document-based tasks, gradually withdrawing instructional scaffolds, and assessing the coherence of claim, evidence, and reasoning. The proposed approach supports a transition from reproductive instruction to evidential, multiperspectival, and reflective historical inquiry.
