The article reviews international and Russian-language research on stress among cadets of military educational institutions. Thereview is organised by four conditions: academic, service, combat-training and extreme. For each condition, stressors and resiliencefactors are identified, and the Western and post-Soviet approaches are compared. The review identifies a lack of longitudinal studiesfollowing the same cadets across conditions, of social-psychological factors measured by condition, and of empirical data on Uzbekcadets. A theoretical model for subsequent empirical research is proposed in the conclusion.
