This article compares phraseological expressions of anger in French and Uzbek. The study examines shared and language-specific ways of representing emotion through imagery. Examples selected from dictionaries are examined by componential, contextual, gradational, and linguocultural analysis. Expressions directly denoting anger are distinguished from those referring to its causes or outward signs. Cross-language correspondences are assessed by meaning, imagery, and stylistic register. The findings may inform bilingualphraseological dictionaries and language teaching.
