This article examines the legal nature, content, and scope of the principle of diplomatic inviolability in contemporary international law. The study employs normative legal, comparative legal, and formal legal methods, as well as an analysis of judicial practice. It substantiates the functional nature of diplomatic inviolability and identifies the relationship between international and domestic legal norms. The study analyzes the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, international legal provisions aimed at preventing crimes against diplomatic agents and other internationally protected persons, and the relevant legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It examines the legal grounds for the inviolability of diplomatic mission premises, documents and archives, official correspondence, and the person, residence, and property of diplomatic agents. The article also considers the distinctions between diplomatic inviolability and jurisdictional immunity, the receiving state's obligations to protect diplomatic missions, and issues related to the abuse of this principle.
