This article examines affixal and syntactic models of term formation in contemporary Uzbek sports terminology. It addresses the functions of derivational affixes, the grammatical structure of multiword expressions, and criteria for establishing terminological status. Twelve illustrative units from the original study are described using structural and morphemic analysis; selected usages are verified against legal and sport-methodological sources. The discussion distinguishes derived lexemes, multiword terms, and free word combinations. It argues that grammatical form alone does not establish terminological conventionality. The limited descriptive sample does not support quantitative claims about the productivity of the models.
