This paper examines the determinants of demand for takaful (Islamic insurance) mechanisms and its development trends in Uzbekistan, using the operational performance of the leading domestic operator, “APEX Takaful” from 2021 to 2025. The study reveals that while the total number of contracts expanded by 23.7 times, the portfolio exhibits high concentration and structural asymmetry. Using Pearson correlation and Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression models, the relationships between gross contributions, claims paid, and underwriting liabilities were systematically evaluated. Based on empirical findings, scientific and practical recommendations are formulated to establish a Tabarru solvency buffer, introduce differential underwriting policies via a “Risk-Profile Matrix” and integrate into the global Retakaful market.
