The article analyzes, on the basis of historical sources, archival documents, and statistical data, the stages of formation and development of the gas-chemical industry in the Kashkadarya region during the 1970s–1980s. It examines the geological exploration work of the post-war reconstruction period, the discovery of major gas fields (Mubarek, Shurtan, Zevardy, Urtabulak), the formation of the trunk gas pipeline system, and the region’s role in the fuel and energy potential of the republic and the Union.
