Islam has had a profound and varied influence on world literature, beginning with the Quran and continuing through the poetry and prose of the Arab and Islamic worlds. It contributed to the development of short story genres such as the Arabian Nights and the Maqamat. Islam has had a profound influence on world literature through works such as the Quran, considered the Word of God, and through a wide range of classical Arabic literature, including poetry and scholarly works. In this article, the author examines the role of Islam in the development of world literature and culture using Russian literature as an example and makes some observations
