This article provides a comparative analysis of the conceptualization and cognitive formation of pilgrimage tourism vocabulary in human cognition based on materials from the Uzbek and English languages. The main objective of the study is to identify the semantic, conceptual, and cognitive features of lexical units related to pilgrimage tourism and to examine their representation through semantic fields, cognitive frames, prototypical features, and conceptual metaphors. The study draws on the fundamental principles of cognitive semantics, conceptual metaphor theory, frame semantics, prototype theory, and mental spaces theory. Uzbek lexical units such as ziyoratchi, ziyorat, mozor, muqaddas, and baraka, as well as English units such as pilgrim, pilgrimage, shrine, sacred, blessing, and journey, are analyzed from a semantic-cognitive perspective. The findings demonstrate that pilgrimage tourism vocabulary is organized into semantic fields related to religious-ritual practices, spatial concepts, movement and activities, emotional experiences, and orientation. The comparative analysis indicates that collective religious and cultural values are more prominent in Uzbek, whereas individual spiritual experience and personal fulfillment are relatively more salient in English. The findings have important theoretical and practical implications for the linguacultural and cognitive interpretation and translation of pilgrimage tourism terminology and for improving tourism discourse.
