Occasionalisms as a dynamic and creative mechanism in language: a comprehensive linguistic analysis

The present study provides an extended theoretical and analytical examination of occasionalisms as a complex and multifaceted linguistic phenomenon. Drawing upon classical and modern linguistic theories, including the works of A.I.Smirnitsky, G.O.Vinokur, O.S.Akhmanova, and Ferdinand de Saussure, the article explores the structural, semantic, pragmatic, and linguocultural dimensions of occasional lexical formations. The research situates occasionalisms within the broader framework of lexical innovation, distinguishing them from neologisms and potential words. Special attention is given to their role in literary discourse, where they function as markers of individual style and aesthetic intentionality. The findings suggest that occasionalisms are not peripheral anomalies but central to understanding linguistic creativity, cognitive flexibility, and discourse dynamics.
