A comparative study of uzbek and english proverbs as linguoculturemes

Annotatsiya

This article examines proverbs as linguoculturemes through a comparative analysis of Uzbek and English proverbs. Proverbs are viewed not only as linguistic expressions but also as carriers of national culture, traditions, and worldview. The study applies a linguocultural approach to analyze how proverbs reflect moral values, family relations, labor ethics, and social attitudes in both cultures. The findings show that Uzbek proverbs mainly emphasize collectivism, hospitality, patience, and respect for elders, while English proverbs reflect individualism, practicality, and time-consciousness. The research concludes that proverbs serve as important linguocultural units preserving cultural identity and promoting intercultural understanding.
