Annotatsiya

Species of the genus Allium have long been used in human nutrition and traditional medicine and are considered important for human health. The most widely cultivated representatives of this genus include onion (Allium cepa), garlic (Allium sativum), leek (Allium ampeloprasum), chive (Allium schoenoprasum), and Welsh or Japanese bunching onion (Allium fistulosum). These plants are rich in biologically active compounds such as flavonoids, organosulfur compounds, and saponins. Scientific studies have demonstrated that these constituents possess strong antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antitumor properties. Therefore, Allium species are recognized as valuable sources of phytonutrients that play an important role in protecting the human body and promoting a healthy diet.
