This article presents a literature review on mastitis and the challenges encountered in its treatment, studies conducted to examine the role of curcumin in mastitis, and the potential for using cyclodextrins to overcome curcumin's hydrophobicity. The need for the selection of a composition and development of a gel technology based on a supramolecular combination of curcumin and cyclodextrins for topical use in the treatment of mastitis is substantiated.
