Diabetes mellitus is one of the most pressing global healthcare challenges, requiring both clinically and economically sound therapeutic strategies. Randomized clinical trials, meta-analyses, and pharmacoeconomic modeling studies were examined. The findings demonstrate that insulin analogues (degludec, glargine) outperform conventional insulins in reducing hypoglycemia and improving patient quality of life. Despite higher direct costs, long-term pharmacoeconomic models confirm their cost-effectiveness through reduction of diabetes-related complications. QALY and ICER analyses from multiple countries support the economic acceptability of insulin analogues within established willingness-to-pay thresholds. Broader implementation of pharmacoeconomic assessment methods will contribute to more rational use of healthcare resources in diabetes management.
