This article explores the integration of the aruz metric system into the modern solfeggio curriculum within Uzbek music education. Aruz, a quantitative system of poetic meter based on the alternation of long and short syllables, has historically played a foundational role in Arabic, Persian, and Turkic musical and poetic traditions. Despite its deep cultural significance, aruz remains largely unaddressed in solfeggio courses, which focus on general rhythmic development and melodic perception. Drawing on the works of prominent scholars such as A. Fitrat, R. Sultanova, and A. Abdurashidov, as well as practical teaching experience at the Yunus Rajabi Institute, this study identifies a gap in rhythm instruction: the absence of poetic metric analysis in the study of Uzbek traditional songs. The article proposes a method for incorporating the principles of aruz into rhythm training using examples from maqom solfeggio. Emphasis is placed on rhythmic literacy, improvisation, and the cultural depth gained through engagement with traditional poetic forms. This research highlights the educational and artistic benefits of reconnecting rhythm training with its poetic origins and offers a framework for enhancing national music education through interdisciplinary methods rooted in tradition.
