This article examines the aesthetic and methodological significance of the art of maqom in the system of professional training for future composers. As one of the most profound and multi-layered forms of Uzbek musical heritage, maqom plays a crucial role in shaping students’ artistic thinking, developing their creative initiative, intonational memory, and individual style. Particular attention is given to pedagogical approaches to integrating maqom into the educational process through compositional analysis of form, modal structure, metrorhythmic patterns, and texture, as well as through creative assignments such as transcriptions, improvisational variations, and thematic development exercises. As a practical case study, the article analyzes Garduni navo, a student composition by Yodgorbek Surabov, which is based on maqom elements. The analysis illustrates how maqom intonational language can serve as both a constructive and expressive foundation for contemporary compositional expression. The article emphasizes that maqom is not only a cultural legacy but also a relevant aesthetic resource within the context of modern artistic education.
