The article analyzes the history of the creation of the musical drama "Tahir va Zuhra" created by the national poet of Uzbekistan Sabir Abdulla and the famous composer Tokhtasin Jalilov in 1939 and its current interpretation in terms of music and dramaturgy. This article analyzes the history of the creation of the musical drama “Tahir and Zuhra,” written in 1939 by the People’s Poet of Uzbekistan Sabir Abdulla and the renowned composer To‘xtasin Jalilov, as well as its contemporary interpretation from the perspectives of music and dramaturgy. The study examines the origins of the work, its ideological and artistic foundations, and modern stage interpretations in terms of the interaction between music and dramatic structure. The article presents a comparative analysis of early and contemporary productions, highlighting the dominance of traditional theatrical aesthetics in earlier interpretations and the active use of directing techniques, stage technologies, and modern musical solutions in present-day performances. The research reveals the processes of continuity and renewal in the development of the musical drama genre. Particular attention is given to the musical characterization of the main characters, Tohir and Zuhra, through vocal parts and orchestral structure. As a result, the study defines the work’s place in national theatrical art, its historical roots, and its artistic evolution in contemporary interpretations.
