Uzbekistan is a natural habitat for such venomous snakes of the viper family as the Macrovipera lebetinus, Echisand Gloydius. The most dangerous representative of this family in our country is Echis. The venom of thesesnakes is multicomponent and contains many proteolytic enzymes, serine proteinases, histamine, bradykininand proteins that activate the X-factor of blood coagulation. Their effect on the human body is clinicallymanifested as local and systemic effects up to disseminated intravascular coagulation syndrome, hepatic renalfailure and necrosis of the bite site. This article provides statistical data on acute poisoning due to the bite ofsnakes of the viper family in the Republic of Uzbekistan over the past 20 years, and also describes in detail theclinical symptoms and principles of intensive care at the prehospital and hospital stages.
