Relevance. In 75% of patients, optic neuritis (ON) may be the first, and sometimes the only manifestation of demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system. Purpose of the study. To determine the diagnostic significance of neuroimaging methods in the diagnosis of optic neuritis in multiple sclerosis. Materials and research methods. We observed patients with ОN of demyelinating etiology — 43 patients (69 eyes). Of these, in 25 patients the process was bilateral, in 18 it was unilateral. The control group consisted of 12 somatically healthy individuals (12 eyes). Results and conclusion. Modern diagnostic methods have shown that in cases of ON against the background of MS, damage to the central nervous system is predominantly diffuse. This was confirmed using MR tractography (decrease in FA and increase in ICD in the optic nerve and in optic radiance).
