This article is devoted to theoretical studying methods of teaching modern Russian at elementary school. Russian language lessons should take into account age, psychophysical and individual characteristics of students, including their special educational needs. It is necessary to organize the process of teaching Russian language using modern methods and technologies and diagnose the quality of language educational process. The goals set by teacher for students at lesson must be formulated specifically, correctly and in the field of activity of the students. All exercises performed at lesson should correspond to the topic of lesson and contribute to achievement of goal, each new exercise should build on previous one and take a step forward. Methods and forms of organization of educational activities should be adequate to topic, purpose and content of the lesson. The article considers: methods of teaching Russian language at elementary school, including taking into account special educational needs; information technologies in the field of primary language education. Recommendations are given on organization of cultural and educational activities in Russian.
