Relevance. Telemedicine is an applied field of medical science associated with the development and practical application of methods for remote medical care, the exchange of specialized information and the solution of organizational and methodological issues using modern telecommunication technologies. This article provides a brief overview of the work carried out in the Republic in the field of development of telemedicine in ophthalmology. Over the past year, about 2880 consultations of difficult patients were held in 13 organized telemedicine rooms in ophthalmological institutions. The above data clearly demonstrate that teleophthalmology is an important and large branch of telemedicine, which has a high potential for further development in the country.
