The article presents the grounds for imposing punishment for smuggling in countries near and far abroad. What items were smuggled, aspects that need to be taken into account when sentencing. Views of some scholars on the crime of smuggling and sentencing for this crime. This article highlights the differences between the crime of smuggling under the criminal legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the crime of smuggling in other countries.
