Today, traumatic brain injury (TBI), especially moderate to severe degree, affects more than 64 million people worldwide annually and remains a leading cause of long-term disability. Due to the complex and multifactorial nature of TBI, comprehensive and multi-principled rehabilitation methods are required to address the various physical, cognitive, behavioral, and psychosocial impairments that arise after injury. We conducted a systematic search and analysis of the literature on neurorehabilitation for TBI using databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. Our literature review examined important strategies for TBI rehabilitation, including neuropsychological assessment, cognitive and neuroplasticity interventions, and psychological interventions for social reintegration. This review examines emerging technological innovations that expand medical care options and improve rehabilitation outcomes, including virtual reality, robotics, brain-computer interfaces, and telerehabilitation. The article also examines the results of regenerative techniques that point to future possibilities for neurorehabilitation, particularly cell therapy and nanotechnology.
