In this article discussed the historical stages of the development of cranioplasty for post-traumatic postresection skull defects, various materials used in cranioplasty, their importance and therapeutic effect, historical information on the results of studies and researchers who contributed to the improvement of the cranioplasty technique, modern achievements and disadvantages of cranioplasty, and a detailed analysis of the prospects for the development of this neurosurgical method.
