Annotatsiya

This study examines Sigmund Freud’s theory of defense mechanisms and analyzes their significance withinthe emotional and academic experiences of university students. Freud’s psychoanalytic model emphasizes that unconsciousconflicts, repressed desires, and unresolved childhood experiences shape individual behavior through protectivepsychological strategies. In the context of student life, mechanisms such as repression, rationalization, projection, andsublimation emerge as responses to academic stress, social pressure, and identity formation. Understanding these processesenables educators and psychologists to better support students in developing emotional resilience, self-awareness,and adaptive coping skills. The findings indicate that recognizing defense mechanisms enhances mental wellbeing,strengthens academic motivation, and contributes to students’ personal development, making Freud’s insightsrelevant to modern educational psychology.
