The article highlights the clinical and epidemiological significance of sudden cardiac death (SCD) in athletes, its main causes, and methods of risk assessment. Although rare, SCD has considerable social and medical importance. Risk evaluation includes clinical examination, ECG, echocardiography, exercise testing, and genetic analysis when needed. Preventive measures emphasize initial screening and regular monitoring of at-risk groups.
