Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic immune-inflammatory disease of the musculoskeletal system, which often develops in patients with skin psoriasis. Psoriatic arthritis belongs to the peripheral group of spondyloarthropathies (SpA) and is mainly characterized by inflammation of the peripheral joints (arthritis), inflammation of the entheses (enthesitis), inflammation of the tendons in the fingers and toes (tenosynovitis, dactylitis), often accompanied by damage to the axial skeleton (spondylitis, sacroiliitis).
