Annotatsiya

Dyscirculatory ischemic myelopathy (DIM) is a neurological disease associated with chronic blood insufficiency of the spinal cord tissues, which occurs mainly in older people. The main causes of the disease include atherosclerosis of the arteries, hypertension, osteochondrosis, and vertebrobasilar insufficiency. DIM develops gradually and is manifested by symptoms such as neck pain, numbness of the arms and legs, muscle weakness, and gait disturbances. The diagnosis is established by MRI, Doppler ultrasound, and neurological examinations. Treatment includes drug therapy, physiotherapy, and in severe cases, surgery. If detected in time, it is possible to slow down the progression of the disease and improve the patient's quality of life.
