Annotatsiya

English for Specific Purposes (ESP) has become a central component of higher education worldwide, particularly in technical universities where students require English not only for general communication but also for professional, academic, and occupational contexts. This article examines the teaching of English for Specific Purposes at Nukus State Technical University, focusing on the faculties of mining and energy, economy, computer engineering, and telecommunications engineering. Drawing on key theoretical and methodological works in ESP, including Johns and Dudley-Evans (1991), Belcher (2006), Woodrow (2018), Serafini et al. (2015), and others, the paper explores the international scope of ESP, the role of needs analysis, course design principles, materials development, assessment practices, and the integration of content and language through CLIL-oriented approaches. The article argues that effective ESP instruction in technical faculties requires a learner-centered, needs-driven, and context-sensitive approach aligned with both global standards and local institutional demands.
