This article presents our own results of assessing the level of speech development in preschool children with functional and organic changes in the brain. The data of the examination to determine the severity of speech disorders in patients included in the study using the method of Povalyaeva M.A. are described. According to the obtained results, we were able to characterize the formation of speech delay in each clinical variation of pathology. Thus, the delay in speech development in patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is likely to be the result of functional underdevelopment of the cortical areas of the brain involved in speech processes. In residual organic lesions of brain structures, in addition to dysfunctional manifestations of the cortical zones of the brain involved in speech activity, the involvement of stem structures is also detected, which naturally causes more severe speech deviations in this category of children.
