Annotatsiya

This article examines the concept and classification of collocation as a key principle of lexical organization. The study aims to analyze collocation from semantic, structural, and functional perspectives using a qualitative-descriptive and corpus-informed approach. The findings show that collocations represent conventional lexical co-occurrences positioned between free word combinations and idiomatic expressions. Restricted and lexical collocations appear most frequently in natural language, while Verb + Noun and Adjective + Noun patterns are structurally dominant. The study highlights the importance of collocational competence in language learning, lexicography, and translation, and proposes an integrated classification model for understanding the multidimensional nature of collocation.
