THE ROLE OF FABRIC TYPES IN ENSURING QUALITY SLEEP FOR PRESCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN

Introduction. In this article, we attempt to analyze the various types of fabrics used for bedding in order to ensure the quality and duration of sleep for preschool-aged children in a hygienic, attempted to analyze the aspects that are important from a normal physiological and psychological standpoint. During the study, the positive role of fabrics made from natural and synthetic fibers in ensuring normal air permeability, moisture permeability, heat exchange, and preventing adverse effects in allergic processes was highlighted. At the same time, taking into account the anatomic, physiological, and individual characteristics appropriate to the age of the growing organism, the role of fabric selection in sleep hygiene is justified. The negative consequences of improperly selected fabrics on sleep quality were also analyzed. Objective: The purpose of the present article is to scientifically determine the hygienic and physiological significance of the types of fabrics used in the bedding of preschool children in order to ensure high-quality sleep - to scientifically determine the hygienic and physiological importance of the fabrics used for bedding for preschool-aged children and to develop general conclusions for selecting the most optimal fabrics for the child. Materials and methods: For the study, materials were samples of natural and synthetic fiber fabrics—cotton, linen, bamboo fibers, viscose, and blends—used for bedding and prepared for preschool-aged children, which were employed as the research materials. The methods used in the article included reviewing printed manuals for various fabrics, conducting statistical analyses of clothing, and analyzing scientific literature. In addition, data for the article were collected from kindergartens attended by preschool-aged children, private kindergartens, and those established under public-private partnerships, using the fabrics of the children's beds and pillows as examples. The data collection process was carried out during student visits to the kindergartens. Results. During human sleep, we can observe that body temperature drops compared to when the person is awake. During this period, as skin temperature falls, the person feels colder and becomes more reliant on the quality of the bedding and the fabric they use for cover to retain heat. We observe that sleepwear (pajamas) and sheets made from fabrics with a higher cotton fiber content provide comfort, ensure the quality of this process, and enhance overall sleep duration and efficiency. Conclusion: The microclimate of the human body individually affects clothing made from various fabrics, as well as bedding materials used in static or dynamic work situations and during rest, profoundly influencing the quality of life, especially sleep efficiency. From a physiological standpoint, the surface of the skin on the body has a certain capacity for inhalation and exhalation. Considering this, using fabrics that create an unhealthy microclimate for the body directly affects sleep quality, and sleep quality, in turn, is a factor that impacts health. The importance of considering fabric quality is great for maintaining a stable level of health.
