Scientific discourse is a complex linguistic phenomenon that develops within a socio-cultural context, is directed toward a specific communicative purpose, and is expressed through various speech genres. The aim of this article is to examine the characteristics of scientific discourse genres, identify their functions, review existing classifications, and highlight the main issues related to genre diversity. Additionally, the article explores the syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic aspects of scientific genres, their impact on text structure, their orientation toward the addressee, and their role and significance in modern scientific commu nication.
