This article is devoted to the study of the use, as well as the artistic, philosophical, and psychological significance of antique and mythological images in Ulysses, a masterpiece of twentieth-century modernist literature. The research thoroughly analyzes the typological connections between the characters in Odyssey by Homer (Odysseus, Telemachus, Penelope, Cyclops, Circe) and the modern characters in Joyce’s work (Leopold Bloom, Stephen Dedalus, Molly Bloom, etc.). The article elucidates the deconstruction of antique images in modern society, the transformation of mythological heroism into ordinary human experiences, and explains why this work remains profoundly relevant for contemporary readers.
