The analysis of scientific researches dedicated to different aspects of «Long face syndrome» in adults was performed. The results of the analysis indicate that one group of clinicians for diagnostics uses different terms reflecting only outward features of the cunent form of the fecial skeleton deformities. The second group of authors uses term of «Long face syndrome» and others to characterize vertical maxillary excess, the third group - vertical excess of both jaws and propose different options of classification. Such disagreements among the clinicians evidence the insufficient level of scrutiny about aesthetic and morphofunctional changes of maxillofacial complex at the cunent category of the patients and the necessity to continue researches about the issue using contemporary scientific-medical techno log}'.
