A review of the literature is devoted to the physiology of the pain sensory system. In this article, the importance of pain in the normal activities of the body, the classification of pain and body 's response to the pain are described. The article presents research data from various authors about pain in the maxillofacial region, features of dental pain, interaction of nociceptive and antinociceptive systems.
