During World War II, women, along with men, made an invaluable contribution to the victory over the Nazis, both at the front and in the rear. In particular, the heroic actions of female pilots in the fight against the enemy, alongside scouts, riflemen, snipers, signalmen, and medical personnel, remain significant even more than half a century later. This article will tell the story of the Soviet female pilot unit, which demonstrated courage on the front lines in the fight against fascism during World War II, conducting night combat operations in simple wooden aircraft. The heroic exploits of female crews during combat operations during the war will also be briefly touched upon.
