The present article is devoted to titles and offices that were in use or emerged during the Middle Ages and that, in the eighteenth to twentieth centuries, either disappeared or acquired a more elevated status. The article is primarily based on the work Tārīkh-i Salīmī (“History of Salimī”) by the relatively little-known historian and writer of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Mirzo Muhammad Salimbek ibn Rahimbek (1848/1850–1930). In order to ensure greater clarity and comprehensiveness, additional sources have also been employed. The principal reason for addressing the issue of titles and offices in the period of the Emirate of Bukhara lies in the scarcity of sources that treat this subject in detail. Although this study does not encompass all the titles and positions of that time, but an attempt has been made to record the most frequently employed ones.
