This article explores the political and military relations between Amir Temur and Tokhtamysh Khan, highlighting their impact on the fate of Mawarannahr, the Golden Horde, Azerbaijan, Iran, and the Rus' lands through a complex interplay of alliance and conflict. Drawing on historical sources and chronicles, the author analyzes Tokhtamysh’s initial reliance on Amir Temur’s support, his subsequent pursuit of political independence, and the military confrontations that ensued. The article sheds light on Amir Temur’s foreign policy and strategic objectives within the broader context of geopolitical changes across the Eurasian landscape in the 14th–15th centuries.
