Religious extremism and terrorism in the Arab Republic of Egypt in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries spread throughout the country and forced the government to seriously address this problem. Especially in the 80s and 90s of the last century, the activities and aggression of radical religious groups and religious extremist forces in Egypt became so massive that the scale of the problem began to threaten not only national and regional security, but also peace and stability around the world. The study of foreign experience in the fight against religious extremism, radicalism and terrorism, the study and implementation of exemplary aspects are equally necessary and useful for all states. From this point of view, it is important to study the long-term experience of Egypt, which was one of the first in the Arab-Islamic world to face the problem of religious extremism and terrorism. This article analyzes the experience of the Egyptian government in the fight against radical religious extremist groups in the late XX - early XXI centuries.
