Teaching Russian as a foreign language (RFL) to non-philological students has been an active area of research for the past several decades. The number of students studying Russian is constantly growing due to the growing role of the Russian language in the academic environment and the development of international relations. The ultimate goal of teaching Russian for foreign students Non-philological students should be fluent in Russian (first of all, in a certain discipline), express their thoughts, understand interlocutors, reproduce and interpret verbally and in writing information obtained from printed and audio sources. Professional Russian for students of non-philological universities is not only a means of mastering a future profession. classes, but also the ability to competently communicate in a professional environment and easily adapt to constantly changing working conditions. The purpose of this study is to show how RFL is taught to non-philological students at the present stage of the development of higher education, to outline the problems and tasks of the teacher in this area and, finally, to discuss the development of the communicative competence of non-philologists.Key words: Russian as a foreign language (RFL), methodological techniques, teaching principles, professional and personal development, computer technologies, RFL directions, non-philological aspects of education
