The article deals with the problems of the legal status of the former kulaks in the Uzbek SSR. The special settlement regime and its impact on the adaptations of exiled kulaks are analyzed. The cited facts show the forced nature of the special settlement system and the existence of significant administrative barriers to the socialization of special settlers. It is concluded that the rights of special settlers were declarative in nature. The positive role of special settlements in the economy of the region-special settlements-is noted.
