The work is devoted to study of the magnetic properties of compounds based on double vanadates of rare earth elements. It is shown that the presence of vanadium V+4 in compounds causes the paramagnetic properties. It is justified that the magnetic susceptibility is consisted of two parts: the magnetic susceptibilities of vanadium ion and rare earth element. The calculated dependence μ(T) coincides with the experimental values. It is shown
