This article analyzes the scientific and theoretical foundations, practical significance, and advantages of Genomic Selection (GS) technology in the development of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) varieties and hybrids compared with conventional and marker-assisted selection (MAS). The core principle of genomic selection is the early-stage selection of candidate lines without phenotypic evaluation, based on the Genomic Estimated Breeding Value (GEBV) calculated using high-density SNP markers distributed across the whole genome. The study aims to assess the feasibility of implementing the GS method in the tomato breeding process under the conditions of the Andijan Scientific-Experimental Station. The results demonstrate that the GS method shortens the breeding cycle, increases genetic gain for quantitative traits, and enables the prediction of heterosis in F1 hybrids.
