The article retrospectively analyzes the genesis of the system of operational-search activities, studiesthe history of their formation and development from the moment of their inception to the presentstate, indicates their cognitive compatibility with modernity, that is, the time of the study, thepossibilities and directions of further optimization, emphasizes that the criminal process and theinstrument of operational search initially had the same origin, in addition, the issues of the evolutionof operational-search activities arising as a result of objective changes in socio-economic, political,technological and many other realities are covered.
