The article analyzes the theoretical and practical problems of the methodology of teaching materials science within the system of higher technical education in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Special attention is given to identifying contradictions between traditional and modern approaches, between educational goals and the real conditions of universities, as well as between the needs of industry and the content of the discipline. The paper considers ways to improve the methodological system of teaching, the introduction of innovative technologies, the digitalization of the educational process, the renewal of curricula, and the development of the competence-based approach.
