Annotatsiya

This article focuses on the field of comparative linguistics and presents a comparative analysis of temporal categories in Uzbek and English. The temporal category is a fundamental aspect of grammar found in all languages. It is widely recognized that the concept of an action or state taking place (or not taking place) is logically connected to time. In other words, any action inherently possesses the characteristic of being carried out or not at a specific moment, period, or point in time. The concept of tense in verbs is relative and is determined in comparison with the moment of speech. Accordingly, three main tenses are initially distinguished in verbs (past tense, present tense, future tense). The meaning of tense is realized through grammatical markers used in the structure of the verb.
